Coffee today has become a interesting study because the coffee bean is grown in many coffee producing countries around the world. With the growth of the Internet, the world has become smaller, which is great thing for the gourmet coffee bean lover. The world’s coffee producing countries have many differences in government, culture , environment and growers, which all in one way or another affect the coffee bean differently. These factors can affect the quality of the coffee bean and influence it’s status as a gourmet coffee bean or not.

What is the Coffee Bean Coffee?

The coffee bean can be of three grades. Our term for everyday commercial grade coffee or just plain blending coffee is grocery store coffee or commercial grade.  The coffee bean that is above average grade we like to call coffee bean coffee. This is when a bean has gone through the loving process it takes to grow, harvest, roast and transport the coffee bean. The coffee is good but not at the gourmet level. That brings us to the coffee bean that is rated better than coffee bean coffee. This coffee bean is known as gourmet coffee beans or simply as gourmet coffees.

 

The coffee plant is a flowering shrub that produces fruit. The seeds go through a wet or dry process and are separated from the fruit and dried. After drying, the beans go through a specialized coffee roast by the master coffee roaster.

What makes a difference between the gourmet coffee bean, the coffee bean coffee and the commercial grade of coffee is the intensity of the process the coffee bean goes through which includes the growing conditions, harvesting, processing, transporting and the coffee bean roasting. Gourmet Coffee

Gourmet coffee beans need to have perfect growing conditions, to be harvested and processed with care. Not all coffee countries have those perfect conditions or processing. So not every coffee country produces gourmet coffee beans.

Coffee bean coffee is not really a bean but a seed from the coffee tree fruit. Two methods are used to process the fruit.

 

The Wet and Dry Process for The Coffee Bean Seeds

The Dry process is when the fruits are dried out in the sun and mainly a machine is used to strip the coffe bean coffee from the dried fruit.
The wet process is when the fruit is soaked in water and then the coffee bean coffee is pulled from the fruit, normally by hand. They are then sent to be dried and sorted by size and grade. The wet process is used more in coffee regions that have high humidity.
Using the wet or dry process is not as important as the degree of roast. Once dried the green coffe bean coffee are sent to the coffee roaster. The green beans are not roasted until needed, which helps with maintaining freshness.
There are three main species of coffee bean coffee grown. Kona which is small and expensive from Hawaii.  Arabica coffee bean which is generally more highly regarded than the Robusta coffee bean coffee and has a delicate flavor. Robusta  is liked by growers because of it’s resistance to disease and unpredictable weather. It is used as a blending bean in lower grade coffees like commercial and some coffee bean coffee.

 

Kona Coffee Beans

Kona beans have a powerful aroma and desirability that is normally preferred unblended. Because of the high cost, the coffee bean is not that popular with most common coffee drinkers. Surprisingly, even at the coffee bean price, which is normally high, it is still has a good demand worldwide.

Arabica and Robusta Coffee Bean Coffee

Most of the gourmet style coffee beans will be Arabica because of its moderate aroma and body. Many Arabica coffee bean coffee in the market are named after a country or region such as Kenya. 60% to 75% of the coffee bean on the market today is Arabica beans. If a coffee shop gives you a name of a region for the name of the bean, continue to ask questions and make sure it is Arabica and not Robusta.
